My Ethos
I have an inquisitive nature and a passion for supporting families on their journeys to find the answers and skills that will help them best. My role involves sitting with each family, truly listening, and understanding their unique stories, why they have sought my support, and their desired outcomes. Many families come to me with a complex history, and it can be emotional for parents to reflect on their experiences. They often feel that they have failed or are failing, but as we unravel their history, it frequently becomes evident that their challenges stem from being failed themselves.
Parenting involves a myriad of decisions that begin from conception and continue throughout a lifetime. In today’s society, we are constantly bombarded with messages about the “right” choices, with social media being one of the most pervasive influences. Every day, algorithms present us with curated perfection or subtly disguised product placements that shape our feelings and decisions as parents without us even realizing it.
I believe that the rise of social media is partly due to the loss of our natural village – we crave support and camaraderie, but often encounter distorted versions of reality that leave us feeling worse. Informed choice is the cornerstone of my ethos. When making decisions, we often have to rely on instinct or the information available at the time, and depending on our sources, some of those decisions might be based on misconceptions or poor information. My aim is to empower families with accurate information and compassionate support, helping them make informed choices that resonate with their unique values and circumstances.
